Rosewood oil is gotten from Rosewood trees that belong to Brazil. The real funny thing is that this is one of the trees that are being deforested way beyond, but we use it in aromatherapy. This tree belongs to the Lauraceae family along with many others like cinnamon and cassia which are also being used in making essential oils. The large Rose wood trees can grow up to a height of a staggering 125 feet, seen in the American rain forests of Brazil and have strong woody red barks with very pleasant looking bright yellow flowers. Since of late the felling of the trees have been a lot, for all its commercial uses and hence the government has made it a compulsion for every tree that is felled a new one is to be planted. The wood cut from these trees are mostly used in building our luxury homes, the beautiful French closets and cabinets that we use, and how could we forget, the chopsticks of Japan, lastly in making essential oils.

Not to worry, you need not feel guilty that you’re ruining the earth when you use the essential oil, for the oil is actually made from the wood chippings that are left over after the wood has served its other purposes. The oil is extracted from these wood chippings using steam distillation method. Rosewood oil is non-toxic, non-irritant and non-sensitizing oil and has a spicy, sweet, woody fragrance with a hint of floral scents to it. For the varied properties that the oil possesses, it is of great demand in areas of regular commercial and medicinal uses as well. The major contents of the oil are linalool, geraniol, camphene, limonene, and alpha-pinene. On a regular basis the oil can be used in reducing the sense of depression and can be used in skin care, besides this it is a cephalic, antiseptic, aphrodisiac, stimulant, and is also an analgesic.

Uses: In general, it is known that essential oils especially the ones with a good aromatic smell, have the capability of lifting up spirits and make you feel a lot better when it comes to physical or mental stress and even in the case of mild depression. Similarly rosewood essential oil also creates a positive impact on your mind making you believe that there’s light at the end of the tunnel, creating an emotional balance. When used as massage oil, it increases the circulation creating a warm and soothing effect thereby reducing pains. This also helps to relieve you from stress. The oil also produces an aphrodisiac effect and is said to cure impotence and frigidity. Rose wood oil can be used in baths or also vapors of warm water inhaled to relieve stress which in turn strengthens your immune system.
