Marjoram Herb

Marjoram Herb

Marjoram (Origanum marjorana), cut and sifted, Egypt, a/k/a Sweet Marjoram. Marjoram supposedly acts on the nervous system and is said to help overly erotic persons. It is a mild external antiseptic and is excellent in bath herb mixtures. It is used to stimulate the sense of touch, is a relaxant, helps relieve pain by its warming and circulation-boosting qualities. It is also considered a sedative and is said to aid digestion, relieve flatulence/colds/headaches, soothes nerves and encourages menstruation which means pregnant women should not use at all. For culinary uses, it’s commonly used in anything that has tomatoes as an ingredient….spaghetti sauce, pizza, etc.. It’s a required ingredient in turkey stuffing and is a major ingredient in French, Italian and Portuguese cuisines. The aroma of Sweet Marjoram is delightful in potpourri and scented pillows. The French put it in linen drawers.
