Turmeric Herb
Turmeric Root (Curcuma longa), ground, India: Turmeric is a mild aromatic stimulant seldom used in allopathic medicine except as a colouring, although it’s used in Ayurvedic and Oriental medicines. It was once used as a cure for jaundice. Its chief use is in the manufacture of curry powders. It dyes a rich yellow. In soapmaking, powdered turmeric at the rate of 1/2 to 1 teaspoon per batch will give soap a nice natural color ranging from creamy to peach to yellow depending on all the ingredients you used in your recipe. Mix the powder into a bit of the soap and then mix that back in with the rest of the batch.
